Sitting here watching the weather change faster than I can run from the barn to the tent makes me realize that some couples may forget to think about back up plans for outdoor weddings. Honestly, there are no better places to be married than in beautiful gardens, but sometimes mother nature just doesn’t cooperate. When looking for a venue always remember to look for that back up and make sure you are in love with it- the weather can be fickle anywhere you book. Don’t forget wind can be a weather factor both for the wedding and for the reception. Make sure you have a way to block a sudden gust if it’s a breezy day, so those beautiful tables stay intact. Another consideration is the exposure when the sun is out. Some locations can just be too hot for many guest when sitting in the direct sun (and the flowers don’t always like it either!). Walk around the venue as you do your tour and envision your wedding in the two locations (desired and backup) and ask how certain weather situations are handled by the venue whether it’s a garden wedding or in a beautiful barn.

If you can find a venue where it is easy to shift from inside/outside or vice versa and keep your dream wedding alive you’ve found your perfect venue. At Stepping Stones we have 3 garden settings, and for the inside (potential backups), we have the Gatsby tent (with a bar) plus our romantic barn (with a bar) where both can seat 200. As a note we do have removable sidewalls,

which I would highly recommend having for a quick change if necessary on a shelter. I know we can truly feel thankful we are not experiencing the east coast hurricanes during the busy wedding season let alone for anyone during any season! Wishing you a weather perfect wedding.

Cheers, Kendra
